1934 MODEL 40 CABRIOLET
In 1934, Ford blanketed much of the automobile market, offering a wide range of no fewer than 12 distinct models to the buying public. Among them, available Ford models ranged from basic coupes, roadsters and two-door sedans to more luxurious and well-appointed cabriolets, convertible sedans and four-door sedans. Most importantly, Ford had put high-quality automobiles within reach of ordinary Americans with low prices and rock-solid reliability.
While buyers might only have been able to afford a basic four-cylinder, two-door coupe priced from $465, the handsome $590 V-8 Cabriolet was one of the upscale models that brought them into the showrooms. Equipped with roll-up windows and a snug cloth top, the 1934 Ford V-8 Cabriolet combined comfortable and complete appointments with the performance benefits of the Ford’s steadily refined 85-horsepower V-8 engine, as well as Ford’s sturdy yet lightweight construction.
A recent condition report confirms this Cabriolet’s very nice paint, with a smooth and nicely detailed surface overall. The new-appearing interior features superb wood grain on the dash and garnish moldings, as well as very nice bright work. The engine bay is nicely finished, the convertible top appears new, tight and straight, and the exterior bright work is high quality, as is the glass and wheel paint.
The drive train and suspension consists of the model 40, 85 bhp, 221 cu. in. L-head V-8 engine, three-speed manual sliding-gear transmission, solid front axle and ¾-floating rear axle with transverse leaf springs front and rear.
