1956 LINCOLN MARK II, white exterior with red and white interior. WHEN THE 1956 Mark II WAS BORN…….. The Mark II was mfg. from 1956, to mid 1957. There were less than 3,000 manufactured – How many managed to survive? It was mostly hand built, and the standard factory time for building it, was 11-12 days. When this car came out, you had to be a ‘Who’s Who’, in order for Ford to sell you one. (In 1956, a fully optioned Cadillac sold for $5,500.) The Factory List Price for a Lincoln Mk II was $10,000. Everything, was standard, except for 1 item. That solitary option, was air conditioning. The cost was $1,000. The previous owner of this Mk II, purchased it in 2004 - shortly after a complete restoration. While it was good, he wanted a SHOW QUALITY CAR, so he did a 2nd restoration (mostly his own labor). He completed this winner to his meticulous satisfaction, in 2007. 2ND RESTORATION …. All new or NOS parts used. Receipts of $39,225 (mostly parts and chroming), including receipts for 100 pieces of chrome replated – costing $15,652.55. Restored mostly by the former owner (his labor cost unknown). Car received 97 of 100 points at the LCOC Meet in Irvine California. The body man for the 2nd restoration said on repaint, the only body filler found, was a small patch in the right quarter, to fill a parking lot type of ding. DRIVE OR SHOW THIS WINNER.
