Vehicle information

Features:
The tailfins were largely truncated in 1962 with free-standing gun sight taillights on top as in 1955-56 but these were elongated streamlined affairs. The front grille was split as in 1955-56 and a large round Eagle hood ornament was fitted for the first time. The 1962 models had a new slimmer Torque Flite A727 transmission which allowed for a smaller transmission hump in the floor. This provided greater comfort for passengers in the center seat up front. 1962 also marked the closing of Imperials dedicated assembly plant; all later Imperials were once again built in the same Jefferson Avenue facilities in Detroit as Chryslers as sales were insufficient to maintain a separate facility. 1962 production totaled 14337. This particular car was originally sold in California where it resided until we recently purchased the vehicle. The family that owned the car from the mid 80s through the mid 2000s kept incredible records for the car. We have a folder almost 2 inches thick that is full of receipts and records of the work done to the car. The majority of the work was in the early 90s when the car went through a mechanical restoration that included a complete engine rebuild transmission rebuild and all new front end components. The maintenance and upkeep on the car has been incredible to say the least. During ownership the mileage was kept in a log on the folder and shows when they purchased the car in 1987 it only showed 119210 miles. The last record before the car was sold the miles read 150347 in 2001. The paint on the car looks good overall but does have a few minor blemishes. The car has gone through a repaint back in the 90s that still shows good with only some minor imperfections. The stainless and chrome bumpers on the car all look great with no major imperfections. The grill is equally as nice. The taillights show no major pitting or cracking to the lenses. No pitting to the rear view mirrors or front headlights. Inside the original gray interior looks great and shows no major imperfections. Both seats look great with no major wear as does the headliner carpet and door panels. We have found nothing inside of this car that does not work. From the lights blinkers wipers AM radio and even the aftermarket 8 track player! Even the clock still keeps accurate time and we have receipts on its rebuild... TWICE! Under the hood the 413 Cu In V8 runs great. The motor went through a complete rebuild at a cost of 3700 in 1994 just 23000 miles ago. Other notable mechanical upgrades were new wheel cylinders all the way around rebuilt power steering pump front end rebuild carb rebuild and many receipts show just general maintenance. The engine compartment is very clean and nicely painted. The A/C has recently been recharged and does blow cool still. There are newer tires that were installed in 2008 that are all in very good condition. The original style hubcaps also look good with no major dings or dents to be found. The trunk is nicely carpeted and includes a full size spare and jack along with a nice collection of 8 tracks and Imperial banner flags. Also included is a folder full of receipts and registrations from when the car was new up until 1991! The car is being sold on a clean California title with VIN number 9223120044. Mileage currently shows 61374.
