Coming off a complete restoration that began five years ago this Mercedes has slowly and meticulously been brought back to showroom quality. Originally featuring a silver exterior over a red leather interior, the current owner opted to go with a fresh black leather interior during the restoration and it has transformed this car into an elegant and subtle classic. No item was overlooked or spared, as this Mercedes received the best parts even at a costly price; take the wood dash overlay pieces for example, which were ordered from Germany at a cost of $800 alone. The paint and panel fitment is flawless, while the black soft top is brand new. Not only does this classic Mercedes convertible look amazing, but it drives great as well due to a new rebuild of the 2.8L inline six cylinder engine, that included both the top and bottom end. The top end of the engine was rebuilt in June of 2009 to the tune of $4,635.23 and the bottom-end shortly thereafter in February of 2010 at a cost of $4,540.81. The seller has provided receipts for all major work performed on this vehicle and we have all of them available for review in our showroom. Complete with the original owner's manuals and a hard top it will be difficult to find a Mercedes 280SL in this condition.
