The Jaguar Mark II was introduced in October 1959 and continued in production until 1967. The MKII was built as a replacement for the 2.4 and 3.4 liter saloon also known as the MKI. The MK II was based on the MKI but the result was different in many ways both aesthetically and mechanically. Improvements to the design and modern materials resulted in a reduced overall weight. The interior was completely redesigned but retained its luxury and elegance with such amenities as leather and wood veneer. The attention to detail both inside and out only amplified the ambiance of sophistication. Leather seats continued to be standard until 1967 when Jaguar offered it as optional in an effort to reduce the cost of the vehicle. This particular 1962 Jaguar Mark II is a wonderful driving example that shows only 59914 miles on the odometer. Finished in classic British racing green the car is a wonderful driving example of this classic Jaguar sedan. The 3.8 liter inline 6 cylinder runs great and makes the car a joy to drive. The paint on the car is older and is showing its age. There are some minor scratches and dings to the paint but overall it has a good shine. We have recently buffed out the car to bring out the great shine of the paint. All four doors shut nice and tight with little effort as well as the hood and trunk. Both front and rear bumpers are in very good condition with no major damage showing. All of the stainless surrounding the lights and trim looks equally as nice. Inside the black connolly leather seats are in great condition and show only minimal wear. There is no cracking to the leather on any of the seats. The rear seat as well as the passenger seat all look nearly perfect with only minimal wear. Carpet is in good condition as well as the headliner door panels and steering wheel. The dark wood trim throughout the car is free of any cracks or peeling to the varnish. All lights blinkers wipers and horn work with no problems as well as the gauges. Under the hood of these Mark IIs is the famous XK engine the same that had won at LeMans in 1951 and 1953. That XK engine was enlarged to 3.8 liters for the production cars producing around 220 horsepower. The engine continued to prove itself as a reliable and capable power plant throughout the history of these sedans. The motor in this car runs great and is a joy to drive. The inline six cylinder starts up with a turn of the key and goes down the road with no issues. The underside of the car is very solid with no rot that we have seen. There has been a thin coat of undercoating applied year ago to prevent any future rust. Currently the mileage shows 59914 miles on the odometer and the VIN number is P178663BW. The car is being sold on a clean Washington title.
